I definitely enjoy the job – I think working just for the sake of lots of money isn’t a good idea as I’d lose my aim in life, and just waste 40 years doing something I didn’t want to do!

Yeah, this really isn’t the job to go for if you like money. With the same qualifications there are many higher paid ones – but not many quite as cool!

Some days you do find yourself smacking your head on the wall and thinking ‘maybe mum was right, and I should’ve been a housewife…’ but then the nice man from IT comes and fixes your computer and you realise you haven’t just lost all your data in a power cut and all is well with the world.

Andy’s right – you’re going to be doing your job for the next 40 years – it really is worth making sure it’s something you enjoy – and I really do.

Hi Mason, Yes I enjoy it. The money is important but I cant see me doing something I dislike for more money – Im not like that I suppose. But I would encourage you to do what you like and feel you will enjoy. If you are enjoying chatting to us engineers then perhaps its something to consider but there are loads of other opportunities too. Clearly we all think engineering is great but you need to make up your own mind.

I enjoy my job! The money is important as we all need enough to live off, but I wouldn’t do this job just for the money if I didn’t like it. There are so many options out there; you might as well spend your time enjoying your work.
