• Question: Does the consumer in the world market have an effect on engineering as a whole?

      Yes I think that influences the kind of engineering we do as our day jobs, after all the bottom line is (unfortunately) money is what makes “the world go round”, so if we did any engineering that has no end value, we’d have no jobs to do….!

      This is an excellent question since any kind of engineering has to take in project costs and deadlines. Some of the big projects I’ve worked on in the past, we’ve had non-engineers take on the responsibility of handling the budget, leaving us engineers just the deadlines to think about. Smaller projects often has us engineers do some of the budgeting ourselves.

      Definitely, there are all kind of market driven products and enhancements to products being introduced all the time. The feedback from products sold in certain markets can also then influence and improve that product for other market areas. The whole global idea impacts engineering just as much as any other industry.
