I think I would start by asking you what it is that you’d really like to do 🙂

Henry, I would encourage you to meet an enthusiastic engineer. You could come and see us in London, see the office, visit a site, meet a graduate and try to ‘get’ what it is that keeps us all busy and engaged with engineering.

I think you should do what you most enjoy – within reason. I like eating doughnuts, but I’ve never found a job where that’s all I’d have to do.

If you think you might like to do it, then I could tell you about what I do and how I feel about it, but I think what is most important is doing something you really want to. Otherwise, it can be really hard to get out of bed on a cold Monday morning to go to work.

Give you ask much information about engineering as possible and encourage you to ask any questions….and if it appeals then I’d say go for it! But if it doesn’t sound like it would suit you and your interests then I wouldn’t try and persuade you.
