• Question: What do you think is going to become the biggest challenge for engineers in the future?

      Hmm – that’s excellent! I suppose it is computers (software!) getting smarter, smart enough to do a lot of the design and engineering for us instead! 🙂

      Otherwise I think it is us having to be more ‘green’ with our designs and development – less fumes, less material to use, use local manufacturers (to keep transportation costs and carbon footprints down, etc). Engineers during the Victorian times didn’t have that problem, they just build wherever they saw fit, and used up a lot of fuel and manpower!

      I think the biggest challenge is going to be the resources available – with the financial problems worldwide there isn’t as much money flowing from investors for one, and our current resources such as oil and coal won’t last forever either.

      But I think this is where engineering will come to the forefront – clever, efficient solutions will need to be found!
